BIOGRAPHY
Fabien Enger is a French trumpet player, bandleader and composer.
Awarded a Fulbright scholarship (2022), and the Arnaud Roujou de Boubée award (2023), he graduated in 2024 from Temple University in Philadelphia with a Master of Music in Jazz Studies.
At Temple, Fabien Enger was able to study under the mentorship of Terell Stafford, John Swana, Tim Warfield, Justin Faulkner, Elio Villafranca, Dick Oatts, Todd Bashore, Vincente Archer, Tom Lawton, and Norman David.
In addition to performing as a bandleader, he has collaborated and played with notable musicians, including Bobby Zankel, Nazir Ebo, Chad Taylor, Lee Smith, Sumi Tonooka, Shakoor Sanders, Andy Emler, Denis Badault, Oliver Mayman, Tom Lawton, Dan Monaghan, Théo Girard, Baptiste Herbin, Laurent Dehors, Jean Gobinet, Julien Charlet, Yves Torchinsky, Misja Michel Fitzgerald, and Patrick Villanueva.
Both classically and jazz-trained in multiple conservatories, and universities in Paris, Metz, and Strasbourg, Fabien Enger has received various accolades both in Europe and the USA, including the Second Prize at the Inner Urge Music Competition 2022, "Outstanding Musicianship" recognition at the Umbria Jazz / Berklee College of Music Clinics in Perugia, Italy, as well as being selected for the inaugural edition of Footprints Europe, held in Łódź, Poland in 2021.
Fabien Enger's new duo album, "Off the Seabed" recorded in Philadelphia with pianist Justin Griggs and funded by a grant from Temple University (CPCA Vice Provost for the Arts Student Grant), will soon be released on the Inner Urge Records label based in Bari, Italy in the Fall of 2024. As a recipient of the NOUS Foundation (2023), and the Arthur King Peters Memorial Travel Grant (2024), he also had the opportunity to enhance his American experience and fully delve into the rich, creative, and historical jazz cultures of New Orleans, and Chicago – by showcasing his original music, meeting, and learning from local artists, as well as representatives of major musical and cultural institutions from both cities.
